How to use bentonite clay:
1.You MUST use plastic, wood, rubber or glass utensils while dealing with the clay.
The clay is highly negative and binds to positively charged metals and toxins. If you use metal utensils, the clay will bind to the positive charges of the metal and make the clay inactive. To avoid the possibility of working with inactive clay, I use rubber or wood to get the best out of my clay.
2.Mix the clay with purified water!
Just like the reason for avoiding metal, it is important to avoid water that would have heavy metals in it because it would make your clay useless. Therefore it is advised that you only use purified water while mixing your clay
3. For mixing, you can put water first or the clay power first.
You can either put water first then stir in the clay, or slowly pour water over the clay until you get the consistency you like. Both of these methods can be tricky in regards to measurement. I usually put the clay first then slowly pour water over them because if I put a bit more water, I can easily compensate with a little bit of clay. The other way, if I start with too much water, I will have too much clay whether I like it or not.
4.Make sure to have a spritzing bottle with you when using the clay as a mask
When using the clay as a face mask, make sure that you have a spray bottle with purified water or rose water to spritz over your face as the clay dries.
Mask Recipes:
The measurements vary depending how much you want to make and how thick or watery you want the clay.
The easiest and simplest recipe is purified water and the bentonite clay.
For a hydrating detoxifying mask: 2 tablespoons bentonite clay, 2-5 tablespoons purified water and 1/2 teaspoon honey
For a detoxifying, cleansing and toning mask: 2 tablespoons bentonite clay and 2-5 tablespoons rose water.
For a stronger cleansing, toning mask and cooling mask: 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay, with 1/2 tablespoon rose petal powder and 2-5 tablespoons rose water.
For a hydrating, moisturizing mask: 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay, 1 teaspoon honey and/or aloe vera gel, 2-5 tablespoons of purified water.
Apply the mask evenly on your face and neck including, eyelids, jaw and your whole forehead. As the clay dries, you will start feeling it pulling and tightening on your face, don’t be alarmed, this is normal. As the tightening increases, take a spray bottle with rose or blossom water and spritz your face to reactivate the clay. Keep the mask on for 15-30 minutes depending on your comfort level.
