The post 5 killer ways to use honey in your beauty regimen + 5 Recipes appeared first on Blissfully Healing.
]]>What I mean is, honey will do a much better job at moisturizing, hydrating, conditioning and protecting your skin and hair than any expensive or inexpensive products you have bought or opt to buy at the store.
Honey does a great job preserving our beauty because it has loads of nutrients, healing compounds and anti-oxidants and as a natural humectant, it does an incredible job pulling moisture from the air and sealing it in our skin and hair.
When looking for honey, make sure to purchase raw honey that has not been pasteurized or heat treated, this type of honey is higher in enzymes and anti-oxidants and will work wonders for your beauty.

Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, this means that at no additional cost to you, I will earn a small commission if you make a purchase through the links below.
Personal experience:
As I was slowly transitioning into a more natural way of life, finding substitutes for my daily maintenance was getting pricey and difficult. It is not very easy to find an affordable beauty product that is completely natural.
I dug deep (asked professor google) ho-and-behold, I found out that honey can work wonders as a facial cleanser, pore purifier, and strengthens hair follicles and have been hooked ever since. Here are a few of the ways I use honey in my beauty regimen.
I use Y.S. Eco Bee Farms’ raw honey (for intake and beauty recipes), and their manuka honey (sporadically for health benefits).
Y.S honey is raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized and unheated, which are all very good qualities in honey. Additionally, the means they use to bee keep are sustainable and chemical free, and the company has been certified as organic (makes the tree-hugging side of me very happy).
Honey is absolutely incredible for the face, aside from working to clean your pores and moisturizing your face, honey will also get rid of acne and completely clear acne scars. It does this with its calming and anti-inflammatory properties that draw out excessive fluid from the skin and help reduce the redness and swelling caused by acne.
Face:
It also doesn’t hurt that honey is anti-bacterial and anti-septic so it does a wonderful job healing acne and zits. Honey will leave your face feeling smooth and healthy.
Although, you should note that if your intention to use honey is for clearing out your acne, allow yourself about a month of daily use to really see and appreciate its work.
Skin:
As it is anti-bacterial and anti-septic, honey does a wonderful job clearing out dandruff on the scalp, as well as eczema and psoriasis on the skin. Because of its moisturizing properties, honey encourages quick skin restoration and helps with the disappearance of scars.
Recipe: One of my favorite honey recipes is honey and garlic face cleanser.
Take a quarter clove of garlic for half a cup of honey and of course, if this is too much, use less garlic for a larger amount of honey.
Yes, it might smell like a bit of garlic, but it works extreme wonders for your face.
Once rinsed, the face will feel smooth and moisturized and look absolutely flawless. I usually follow up with a spritz of rose water to tone my face (which covers the smell if any is left) then finish with sweet almond oil.
Ooooh, my hair after a honey masque feels like butter.
Honey is an absolutely incredible moisturizer and conditioner that can do wonders for dry and brittle hair, as well as maintain the health of already healthy hair.
Other than moisturizing and conditioning hair, honey also strengthens hair follicles and prevents breakage and damage, gets rid of dandruff and keeps the scalp healthy. As a bonus, if left for a long period of time, honey can lighten the shade of hair.
Recipe:
I normally use honey on damp hair as it would otherwise be very difficult to apply. I apply on slightly wet or damp hair and leave it for 30 minutes or more before rinsing it out, moisturizing and styling my hair.
Other times, I mix the honey with yogurt, a deep conditioner and/or an oil such as sweet almond oil, coconut oil or black castor oil to boost its moisturizing qualities, then keep the hair masque on for an hour or more.
When my lips get chapped, or increase in dryness, my first go to is always honey.
Well, it is also a plus that I get to keep something sweet on my lips for a period of time. Honey will soften your lips in addition to hydrating and healing cracked/chapped lips and will also lighten the color of your lips.
Recipe:
(Cracked/chapped lips) Dab a bit of honey on your finger and apply it to your lips, then follow up with sweet almond oil, shea butter or another heavy oil that will help hydrate and moisturize your chapped lips.
Repeat this through the day as you would with regular chap stick and enjoy the benefits.
This will also liven the color of your lips.
Honey helps with the rejuvenation of your cuticles by moisturizing, soothing and healing them. This prevents bacterial and fungal infections that can occur as a result of unhealthy cuticles.
Recipe: Mix your desired amount of honey with coconut oil and apply to your cuticles. You can also mix with olive oil and/or aloe vera gel for additional healing of very cracked cuticles.
Honey has been discovered to be a cure to various eye ailments such as corneal ulcers due to inflammation, and eye dimness of the cornea etc.
Honey also refreshes tired eyes, helps with dry and sore eyes, protects from glaucoma in addition to healing eye infections. Honey has a lot of healthy and healing properties that do wonders for your eyes.
In addition, with time and patience, honey can also lighten eye color.
Recipe: 1 drop of honey for 5 drops of purified water.
***The solution will need to be stored in a sterilized glass bottle in a cool and dry place. A healthy shelf life is about 3 days
***Please consult your doctor before using honey to assist with eye health.
